So you are able to download the torrent file and add it to the client. Well this is another whole issue. If you're using uTorrent, select the torrent and the 'trackers' tab and see if any trackers working (see the screenshot) As for suggestions, I use private trackers myself if you're interested in joining private trackers, I can suggest a couple of them are easy to join and big with content and fast to start with. The only public (or semi-private) trackers I use are rutracker, h33t for apps, tpb, kickass or demonoid and mostly for apps.
